Brain Tips to help our learners.
This weekend I ran into Rita at school and we had a great discussion. Our dialogue consisted of teaching techniques that would help keep students more engaged during class. I referenced some theories about how the brain works and how I will be experimenting with new techniques this upcoming fall and winter. We had a good discussion and I thought that this information should be with everyone. Through my graduate work I was exposed to John Medina who is a professor at Washington University and author of the best selling book Brain Rules. If you are interested in improving student’s performance in the classroom there are some tips the Medina shows you that can have an immediate effect. Below are some links that will help you navigate through Medina’s website. Just a warning, he’s intense and uses a lot of humor. His videos are good as well as his slide shows. Check it out!
